Meet Maisy

Chair, Leadership Team

Bringing experiences from different roles and personal backgrounds. In this weekly story series, we’re asking our senior leaders to take five minutes away out of their day to tell us about their experience, what drives them and who they are outside of the Youth Council.

Maisy, how would you describe your role in the organisation?

I like to describe my role as supporting our team to shape a better future for the young people across Newport, as well as creating opportunities for our people to progress.

What are your priorities inside the youth council right now?

My priority is running a successful and sustainable youth council for the future. We are creating our recruitment strategy for growth in the organisation, which includes value creation to our communities.

What are your career aspirations? Did you think you'd ever become Chair?

I would like to work internationally, preferably in the field of Science. I always love to work with people and bring people together. That was, and still is, a real passion for me. I didn't necessarily expect to become Chair, but I have always considered myself a natural leader.

Which five celebrities, living or dead, would you like to have over for dinner?

Michael Jackson, Robin Williams, Harry Styles, David Williams and Gemma Collins.

What’s the best or worst thing that has happened to you during the COVID-19 pandemic?

The best thing that has happened to me during the pandemic is being able to meet new friends. The worst thing that has happened during the pandemic is not being able to see family who live abroad.
