Hello. I’m Michael Enea from the Welsh Conservatives.
My top three priorities for Newport would be:-
Deliver an M4 Relief Road.
More funding for our City Centre. Boost the economy and create jobs.
Better support for our Schools and children.
I will promote and strengthen the Government’s kickstart scheme whereby helping young people to gain work. I want a ‘levelling up’ of funding across all our Community Centres - with more activities for young people. Help teenagers to get off our streets and away from anti-social behaviour.
In 2015, I successfully lobbied for the enlargement of Newport’s SEN School for children with Down Syndrome, ADHD and autism. I will continue to question school capacities. In 2017, I was the only Newport politician to publicly question school meal provision and canteen prices from Chartwells - long before it hit the headlines earlier this year.
I will continue to fight to reopen the Splash Pad at Tredegar Park. This would benefit thousands of young children. I will campaign for the introduction of designated legal graffiti walls in Wales.
I will question the Council’s performance on ‘youth engagement’ across all platforms and youth groups in Newport. The Council are underperforming in this area.
